I was absolutely delighted to be chosen to help design a feature wall in Birmingham on behalf of BBC Gardeners’ World Live earlier this year.

In May, I was tasked with creating a 50-square-metre paint effect to complement the stunning Reflective Retreat Garden, designed by the incredibly talented Kitti Kovacs.

The concept behind the wall was to enhance the calming, contemplative atmosphere of Kitti’s garden — a space that invites visitors to pause, reflect, and reconnect with nature. Using layered textures, soft tones, and organic movement, my paint effect was designed to blend seamlessly with the garden’s palette while adding depth and character to the overall display.

It was a fantastic experience to collaborate with such a creative team and to see how art and garden design can come together to create something truly special. Being part of BBC Gardeners’ World Live was both an honour and an inspiration — a chance to showcase how surface design can elevate outdoor spaces into immersive works of art.
